TTN News and Updates – April 2021

In our April blog we provide a round up of TTN news and event appearances from the past month. It’s been a busy few weeks! Hopefully you managed to catch some of the following events!

Round up: Managing the School Estate Summit 2021 – 24th Mach

It was good to see so many members at the Managing the School Estates Summit last month. The TTN coordination team were on hand on our ‘virtual stand’ on the day. It was good to say hello to those of you who stopped by in-between presentations and workshops. We even recruited several new members to join us. So welcome aboard if you’re one of those who found us through this event!

Round up: TTN New Member Induction Session – 21st April

Many thanks and a warm welcome to all the new members who joined us for our first ever TTN induction session. Hopefully it was useful to have an informal chat with like minded people, comparing notes and experiences on a range of topics from condition surveys to building compliance, health & safety and more. We hope this has given you a good flavour of what being a member of TTN is all about! We look forward to seeing you at future events. Also, we were pleased to see some of you enjoying a brew with your new TTN mugs too!

If you didn’t get a chance to attend or if you’ve only joined us very very recently, we will hold similar sessions in the future as the network continues to grow.

Round up: TTN Webinar – 31st March

Following our well received live webinar sessions during the course of 2020, we decided to continue the webinar series, providing an opportunity for members to hear from experts on the following topics:

  • British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc): ‘Lessons of the pandemic’ good practice re: ‘covid cleaning’, returning to the workspace, and ‘the new normal’, plus an overview of good cleaning contract management) – Michelle Iland and Chris Ryan
  • Bauder – Overview of different types of roofing technology. How to specify roofing projects. How to spot roofing problems. – Liam Rose and Nigel Davis
  • Virtual Tea Break / Informal Networking from 2pm

There was a ‘Q&A’ opportunity, and the session concluded with an ‘informal networking / coffee break’ session. A full summary report/ set of meeting minutes has been sent to registered TTN members.

Round up: TTN at Schools Development Conference – 27th April

Two of our coordinators, Bryony Green and James Miller presented at the  Schools Development Conference on 27th April 2021. In the session they discussed the following topic:

Designing and Building Schools For The Future; The last 12 months have led to a re-evaluation of the facilities needed to provide children with the best education possible. With a greater emphasis placed on flexible use of space, the ability to social distance and the importance of wellbeing. A host of education leadership and estates professionals discuss how they are incorporating these lessons into their schools development and management plans.

The session was well attended, and we even spotted some TTN members in the audience. Those who registered to attend will be contacted by the organisers with details of how to watch the session on ‘catch up’.
