The benefit of using a centralised database for recording accidents, incidents and near misses that take place is that it allows the management/head office of a Trust to complete a detailed analysis of their accident data by area, injury, type, student, employee etc, in addition to monitoring staff absences though injuries occurring through a work-related activity.

In the example below, which shows a system that one TTN member trust built in-house, the system generates automatic emails to notify relevant people when an accident takes place. This ensures someone else within the vicinity can help put in place immediate preventative measures and makes managing accidents more effective.

The system takes away the paper based accident reporting that can often be missed, or lost making analysis ineffective. Addressing accident trends is a systematic approach to preventing and effective method of reducing employee injuries.
