The new School Estate Management Standards (SEMS) Return has generated a lot of discussion across the sector. Join The Trust Network for a practical session exploring what the return means in practice, and how trusts can use the process to identify priorities and strengthen their approach to estate management.
In this discussion-based session, TTN coordinators will share insights, address common questions and misconceptions, and discuss how the return can support meaningful conversations with trustees, executive leaders and other stakeholders. There will also be opportunities for attendees to ask questions, compare approaches and learn from peers.

- How to understand the purpose SEMS return, what it involves, and how to interpret its questions
- How existing practices and processes may support your trust’s self-evaluation.
- How the SEMS return relates to the four themes of safe, suitable, sustainable and sufficiently sizedestates.
- How the self-evaluation process can help trusts identify priorities and drive value through future estates planning.
- Practical ideas for discussing SEMS outcomes with trustees, executive leaders and other key stakeholders.
